Alyssa Cooper is a Community Planner at McLean County Regional Planning Commission.
Cooper earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, German and Economics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She then spent three years working in libraries and serving a term in AmeriCorps in Phoenix, AZ, where she wrote grants, started and managed two library volunteer programs and worked with library staff to open a used bookstore to be used as a job training site for developmentally disabled individuals.
Cooper returned to Illinois to attend graduate school in Economics and Community Development at Illinois State University’s Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development. During graduate school, she completed another AmeriCorps term at the City of Bloomington, IL, where she worked on economic development and planning topics including working with developers and business owners on incentives such as TIF. Upon completing her Master’s degree, Cooper began work as a Community Planner with a focus on data analytics at the MCRPC.
