PARKing Day is an annual, worldwide event where artists, activists, and citizens independently (but simultaneously) turn parking spots into temporary public parklets and other spaces for people to enjoy. It is designed to celebrate people and their creativity!

The goal is to reuse the public right-of-way and reinvent a parallel parking space. (Some restrictions on location apply.) MCRPC partners with the municipalities and other participating entities to promote PARKing day events in McLean County.

Here are three ways you can participate (select one):

  1. Sponsor a space to advertise your specific business. This option allows you to utilize your park to showcase your business.  Suggestions could include Plein Air art, live music, yoga demonstrations, chair massages, etc.
  2. Partner with a charity or non-profit to help raise awareness. This option allows you to sponsor a spot on behalf of another organization, such as Wishbone Canine Rescue. That organization would then be responsible for creating the park.
  3. Sponsor the event, but donate the space back to someone else to utilize.
